A competition for PhD students for the best research paper

PhD students are invited to send five copies of their paper to Cilia Witteman, secretary of EADM. A jury (Pieter Koele (chair), Wibecke Brun, Mandeep Dhami, and Dan Goldstein) will review the papers and award the prize to the best paper. The winner will be invited to give a presentation at SPUDM-22. The deadline for submission is 31 January 2009. The winner will be notified before 1 April 2009. The prize includes a diploma and a cheque of EUR 750. In addition the SPUDM conference fee will be waived.

De Finetti rules

The PhD student should be the sole or first author and the work should be mainly that of the student; if co-authored, the paper is accompanied by a statement signed by the co-author(s) to the effect that the student is credited as the primary source of ideas and the main author of this paper;
The paper should be unpublished at the moment of submission for the de Finetti competition;
The length of the paper is the size of a regular journal publication: a complete thesis will not be accepted;
Only PhD students who did not have their PhD at the time of the last SPUDM conference (August 2007) are eligible.
